Lillian Bassman – A legendária fotógrafa que trouxe beleza e sofisticação à fotografia
Lillian Bassman nasceu em Nova York no ano de 1.917. Filha de imigrantes russos cresceu em um ambiente intelectual e em meio a livre- pensadores, o que lhe permitiu viver uma vida boêmia desde a mais tenra idade.
Conheceu o seu futuro marido, o fotógrafo e psicoterapeuta, Paul Himmel quando tinha apenas seis anos de idade e ele nove. Aos quinze anos, passaram a viver juntos, com a bênção de seus pais. Himmel morreu em 2009 , após 73 anos de casados.
Lillian trabalhou para a Harper Bazaar, como fotógrafa de moda, nas décadas de 40 à 60.
Suas fotografias eram verdadeiras obras de arte. Capturavam um mundo de mulheres elegantes e impecavelmente vestidas, realizadas com um alto contraste em preto e branco.
Seu trabalho foi apresentado internacionalmente em galerias, museus e exposições, em cidades como Nova York, Paris, Milão e Londres. Seu olhar romântico revolucionou a fotografia de moda.
Lillian morreu em fevereiro de 2012, deixando-nos um legado de poesia, arte e glamour.
